The FDA has announced a recall of hundreds of products containing Valsartan (a popular drug for high blood pressure and heart failure) as well as recalls of the related drug Amlopidine. Some batches of this drug that were made in China are contaminated with chemicals that can cause cancer or liver damage.
Contaminated With Carcinogens
Authorities found that some Valsartan was contaminated with the carcinogens N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA) and N-nitrosodiethylamine (NDEA). NDMA is shown to cause liver damage and cancer, is proven to cause cancer in animals and, is expected to cause cancer and other illness in humans. NDEA causes cancer in animals and is used to induce liver tumors for research.
Millions Are At Risk
More than 100 million adults in America have high blood pressure. In 2017, more than 10 billion pills containing Valsartan were sold worldwide. People with high blood pressure typically take one pill daily and heart failure patients take two. If you have experienced any of the following symptoms, you may be the victim of NDMA overexposure:
Reduced function of the liver, kidneys, and lungs
